IT'S MY FAVORITE

I guess I tend to lean toward being sentimental, emotional, touchy-feely, and sometimes sappy or corny. That's me; deal with it. Fortunately, I have plenty of level-headed people around me who can keep me in check.
I have lots of favorites: favorite beach, favorite teacher, favorite street, favorite restaurant... You get the idea.
I'm glad that my parents instilled in me the importance of being in the Word of God. I grew up reading the Bible with my family every day, but never read it for myself until I was a teen. Once I got into it for myself, I began to understand God's plan for my life.
My first favorite Bible passage was Isaiah 43:1-2 "But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, (I only read KJV back then.) and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."
Now, all these years later, with much more of the Word living in me, I think my favorite probably is whichever one I am reading at the time. But often, my Bible still falls open to Isaiah 43, and I'm reminding of God's abiding presence and unchanging character.

  1. I want to thank you for this blog. It was right down the lines of what I recently wrote on mine. I am new to being a Christian, and I don't know my Bible very well, but I have now added Isaiah 43:1-2 to my blog for the day. It coincided so well with my thoughts, that it must have been the Lord's will for me to read this blog. God Bless,

  2. Preachers have favorite topics to preach on too. I thought that was where you were going with this at first. I was wrong.
